Is it possible to have an allergic reaction to the adhesive?

Allergic reactions are rare but can occur if you are sensitive to certain cosmetics or adhesives.   There are different grades of eyelash extension glue that vary from sensitive to strong.  Make sure to let your lash tech know if you do have any allergies so they can use a medical grade glue or more sensitive glue.  Also the lash adhesive does NOT touch the skin – the lash extensions are glued to your own natural lashes about 1-2mm from the lash line so this will reduce the risk of developing an allergic reaction.

What are D Curl Lashes?

D Curl lashes have a sharper curl than the C Curl lashes.  The D Curl lashes tend to be more challenging to apply, and do not adhere as well since you have to have a certain type of natural curl to bond with this shape lash extension.  The D Curl lashes are not as popular as the C Curl lashes.

How often should I get touch ups?

I would recommend getting a touch up every two to four weeks. Did you know a natural eyelash falls off every 60 to 90 days on average due to the natural lash growth cycle? It is naturally replaced with the growth of a new eyelash. At any given moment, each of your natural eyelashes is at a different stage of its lash growth cycle. A touch up is needed to replenish the lash extensions that have fallen. Touch ups generally take a short time and are relatively inexpensive, usually a fraction of the cost of a full set. It’s a necessary process that keeps your lash extensions looking fabulous and fresh!

Can I swim, shower etc after getting eyelash extensions?

Yes! Of course – You can enjoy eyelash extensions with little need to adjust your lifestyle. However, during the first 12 hours, we do not recommend you to swim, spa or steam. The adhesive needs time to cure and bond. After that, you’ll be frolicking and having fun in the waves in no time! Also, allow your lashes to dry after the water and fluff tips of lashes lightly with fingertips or a comb brush to separate the lashes. Happy Fourth Of July!

What is the difference between synthetic mink lashes and real mink lashes?

The mink lashes we sell are made from synthetic materials but they are made to resemble real mink hair.  Real mink is very soft and thin and the curl does not hold well with water contact.  The synthetic minks are also soft, have a rich color and luster and the curl holds very well.  They are very popular with both lash technicians and clients.  Technicians love the ease of use when applying the mink lashes and clients love the way they look.  They come in a box type container on rows of strips.  A strip is removed and placed on the opposite hand applying, then each lash is removed one at a time with the tweezers and attached to the natural lash.

How many days before your wedding should you get Eyelash Extensions?

If you are interested in having the eyelash extensions done for your wedding it is recommended that you have the initial lash set applied 2 weeks prior to your wedding and then a fill a day or two before. This is to see if you have any reaction to the eyelash extension glue, which chances are you won’t but you will not want to take a chance with having the extensions applied right before your wedding day.

If you were to have an allergic reaction it would happen by the following morning.  This would include swelling, irritation and redness.  If you are not allergic to any adhesives then you will not have any problems, sometimes however clients do not know if they are allergic to certain cosmetic products. There is a very small percentage of clients who experience this and most know if they are allergic to certain cosmetics or cosmetic adhesives.  There are also more sensitive type glues such as pharmaceutical or medical grade glue for clients who might experience an allergic reaction.

If a reaction does happen you would need to have the extensions removed.  Also make sure to go to a lash technician who is experienced and uses high quality products.  Your technician will also do a consult with you prior to the lash application and ask you if you have any specific allergies to glues or other products.

Are the individual flare lashes used for eyelash extension application?

The individual flare lashes are not the same as the single lashes for extensions.  The flares are available with a knott or knott free and are placed on top of the natural lashes where the individual single lashes are placed directly along each natural lash avoiding the skin on the eyelid.

Lash Lift

As women begin to age there’s a little more drooping happening  around the eye area and those once dark full lashes… well those start to fade and shrink to barely there.  Thankfully an alternative to going under the knife or the more common term referred to as blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) are the semi-permanent eyelash extensions.  Eyelash Extensions can actually help lift the eye area creating a more youthful appearance and distracting from the loss of elasticity around the eyes.  The extensions help to add more depth and brightness as well – sometimes even creating the appearance of a liner along the base of the lashes.  Many different looks and styles can be created with lash extensions depending on whether you want a natural look or something more dramatic.  If you are looking to add more defintion to your lash extension look use a rich,  black smudge pencil or liquid eyeliner.  Waterbased mascara can also be used but only on the tips!

Professional Question – How do I clean the glue off my jade stone?

If you are using the jade stone to place your eyelash extension glue onto and there is still alot of glue left on the jade stone you would first wipe the glue off with a paper towel or tissue then place the jade stone into a glass container with acetone.  If the jade stone did not have alot of glue you can skip the wiping part and just drop into the container with acetone. Recommended is the professional strength acetone, this can be purchased at a beauty supply store or some drug stores even carry this.  Only enough acetone to cover the jade stone is required.  The acetone will dry up so you do not want to use too much.  Leave the jade stone in the actone for a few minutes and then remove with tweezers so as to avoid any skin contact.  Rinse well with water and dry.
